Visit your Favourite Wineries in the Adelaide Hills

Mount Lofty is one of the first areas to visit as you head into the Adelaide Hills. It is the highest point in the southern Mount Lofty Ranges, located about 15km east of the Adelaide City Centre. Located here is the Mount Lofty Summit viewing point and cafe. The views over Adelaide are stunning and on a clear day you can see the coast and full panoramic view.

Explore the magnificent Mount Lofty Gardens is worth adding to your list if you are an avid nature lover. The Magnolia hill is worth visiting in early September if you want to see a hillside covered in magnolias of all types – truly stunning and instagram-worthy. Otherwise a stroll around the lake is beautiful at all times of the year.

Hahndorf is know for it’s beautiful main street, leafy in summer and stunning in Autumn! It’s also known for its original German-style architecture and artisanal food – as Australia’s oldest surviving German settlements.

The Hahndorf Academy is home to the German Migration Museum. The Academy is the second most visited Art Gallery in South Australia and they have a contemporary exhibition program with regular rotating exhibitions. They also have a stunning shop showcasing SA artists and creative makers, whilst their museum displays artefacts and historical information of the people of the area.

Along the main street, Mount Barker Road, you will find quintessential German gastronomy from the local pubs, inns, restaurants and craft breweries. It is filled with authentic artisan shops where you can buy premium handmade goods, delicious produce including cheese, honey, handcrafted chocolates and wine. Not keen on set winery visits, would like to shake it up and pop into see some of our local producers as well as a winery or two and would prefer to choose your own stops? … Then this is the tour for you.  Simply tell us which locations you would like to visit. We recommend 2 stops before lunch, then take a break for a bite to eat at your leisure, then off to the next 2 stops you have selected. Of course, should we finish up early … then why not drop into another winery on the way back? Whether you would prefer fine dining for lunch or rather keep it casual and enjoy a pub meal the choice is completely yours. Keep in mind your lunch will determine how much time you will have available for tastings.
